Statement of "Dress"

現代社会に生きる私たちは、衣服を身につけずに過ごすことができない。
それは単に寒さ暑さから身を守るためではなく、 ドレスアップすることで、自らのコンプレックスや弱さを 覆い隠し、武装するため。
一方で、自ら選んだドレスを身にまとうことは、 自我を表現することにもつながる……。
その昔日本には、選択の余地さえ与えられないほど、 モノのない時代があった。
そして今、逆にモノがあふれ過ぎて、 選びとるのが困難な時代を迎えている……。
あふれるモノを前に、どのドレスが一番自分を輝かせてくれるのか、 選べなくなってしまった私たち。
何枚ものドレスを重ねていくうち、何が必要で何が不必要なのか、 見失ってしまった私たち。
それはまるで、あふれる情報に翻弄され続ける、 現代社会の写し絵のようだ。
出身、名前、性別、ありとあらゆる属性……。
情報という名のドレスを重ね着すればするほど、すべてがあいまいになっていく。
にもかかわらず、そうしなければ生きていけない大人たちの姿は、 自我が目覚め始めたばかりのこどもの目に、どう映るのだろうか……。
